So Ive just realised its been over a year since I last post.Life gets in the way and I completely forgot about Lj!
Heres my thoughts on this last years tv and movies.
My last post I was excited about the new Harry Potter book coming out and it has! I was really pleased with Deathly Hallows-its become one of my favourite books. I was pleased because: Harry and Ginny get together! Ron and Hermione get together, Voldermort is defeated-yay! Was sad when Hedwig died in the first part of the book-couldnt believe it!I was even sad when Dobby died in the book, and i cant stand him in the movies! Was pleased how the story turned out and Im glad they are making 2 movies out of it as there is so much in the book that is so important. Bit sad we dont get to see the next movie this year but Ill live!
Biggest shock-Daniel Radcliffe in Equs pics-when did he grow up so much and get all those muscles?!
Biggest tv dissapointment-Im sad to say, Ashes to Ashes. Ok so the last 2 episodes were great but to be honest I was really dissapointed in it, guess I had a lot of high hopes. Oh and I couldnt believe that Sams dead in it, its just wrong!!
Loved the Jane Austen season on Itv1. They were really good adaptations, especially Persuasion and I also loved Sense and Sensibility on bbc1. The suprise thing I loved though was Lost in Austen-I loved it, thought it was soooo funny!
One of my favourite movies this year was definatley Enchanted. Its such a funny film and the songs are great!I also though The dark knight was really good and also mamma mia which was so cheesey yet brilliant! Even with Pierce Brosnans bad singing!!!

I just realised it has been months since i last posted! This year has gone soo quick! I cannot believe we are halfway through september. The nights are drawing in now and it is getting cold. To be honest though, I love the autumn, I love the fact you can snuggle up by the fire with a hot chocolate in your jim jammies!
But sob sob! my little niece is now in pre-school! she absolubtly hated it and kicked up such a fuss about going and then the other day, just decieded to tell my sister that the next time she goes to pre-school she wont be screaming and crying and that she will be good from now on! kids eh!

Ok, so I know its been months since I last updated but I wanted to say how annoyed I was that Life on Mars didnt get Best Drama and Best Actor for John Simm in Life on Mars. They were robbed!! Poor JS looked so dissapointed too.
I was pleased that it did win the Audience Pioneer award-they deserved it and I hope that next years Baftas will make up for it and award them for series 2.
(Also, apparantly they are making a US version of Life on Mars-what is that allabout? Why dont they just leave it? Its great as it is!!)

I also thought Victoria Wood deserved her award but I would have liked Ruth Wilson to have had the Best Actress for Jane Eyre as I thought she was lovely in it.

Just saw the trailer for the new Harry Potter film-it looks good. I think Im gonna try and read the 5th and 6th books in time for the film and the final book-Im really sad and looking forward to the summer because of this-time to get a life I think!!

Ok. I think I am getting slightly obsessed with BBCs 'Life on Mars'. Today at work I found myself daydreaming about how the series is actually going to end. There are so many ways in which it can go and my mind boggles over it!!

I only got into the series a couple of months ago when I rented out series 1 and now Im obsessed. Even my parents love it cos its from their era! I really do not have a clue as to how its going to end-I only hope that it doesn't end with it all being a dream. I would be gutted if that happened but somehow, I dont think it will as it is a well written series.
I used to wonder how 'Lost' would end and although I still love it, I feel as though it is never going to end and I'll never find out what it is all about.

Is it really sad that im excited by the fact that in July we have Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix coming to the cinema and then a few weeks later the final book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is out too?
I cant help it!

I know i have better things to think of but I keep wondering what will happen in book 7. Will Harry die? (i hope not!) Will Voldermort die? Will Ron and Hermione ever get it
together?
Personally, I think Voldermort will die-I mean he has to, the whole series has been leading up to the last battle and if he doesnt die I will be very suprised. As to Harry Im very unsure. Some people say they think he is a Horcrux. That would make sense but I hope not!Im a Harry/Ginny shipper so in an ideal world I would like them to live happily ever after-somehow Im not so sure though! In book 5 it said that love was the power that the Voldermort knows nothing of so prehaps in the final battle Ginny will be very instrumental.Im pretty sure Ron and Hermione will get together in this book though. I think some of the Weasley clan will die in this book and maybe Hagrid (NO!) will die too.
As for Snape, Im sure there is more to him than meets the eye and I think maybe Dumbledore knew he would kill him(maybe they had an agreement?)Also, I know this is a long shot but I never believed Sirius was truly dead. Could he appear somehow in this final book?
Anyway, there are a few of my thoughts of what could happen.
Only 5 months to see if any are true!

Happy New Year everyone!
Hope you all had a brilliant christmas and are looking forward to 2007. Cant believe another year is over, Christmas went so quick for me, consisted of me sitting on the sofa, eating bad food and watching tv for a whole week! oh well, back to work-in fact its the first year I think, that I have actually enjoyed going back to work from the Christmas holidays! Does this mean I am getting older now?-I hope not!!

Wahay! Its nearly Christmas!! I cant quite believe it!
One of the things i enjoy at christmas it watching Christmas movies, so here are a few of my favourites:
White Christmas-v cheesy and not very christmassy until right at the end but
its brilliant!
Its a Wonderful Life!-I love this film, its actually quite a sad film cos it deals with suicide but it is so lovely the end and i always feel really christmassy after watching it!
Muppets christmas carol-probably my favourite out of all the movies, everything a bout it is brilliant and funny!
Meet me in St Louis- Ok, so its only Christmassy at the end, but how can you not love it when Judy Garland sings 'have yourself a merry little christmas' at the end and not cry?
The Grinch-Ok, not everyones favourite but I love it!
Santa Clause the movie-No, not the one with Tim Allen, but the one with Dudley Moore in it. Have watched it every year since i was a little kid and it is just so lovely and Christmassy!
While you were sleeping-A cheesy romantic comedy with a stupid plotline that is set at Christmas and makes me feel good inside!
Love Actually-A great, feel good film full of beautiful people. V funny!
Little Women-Ok, so this only has Christmas in part of the film but it is such a feel good film, I love it!
Anyway, I know there are loads more christmas films but these are my favourite! Sorry its taken so long to update-im just really lazy!!!

I love bbcs North and South as you can probably tell by my user name!
I knew of Elizabeth Gaskells work after seeing 'Wives and Daughters', which is another great bbc adaptation, so i was curious to see this one.I think I love the story so much because it is not just a love story but a story of Victorian life. In the film Margaret Hale, who originally comes from the South, arrives up north to Milton with her parents and maid begrudgingly, there, she befriends Nicolas and his daughters , a very poor family who work at the mills producing cotton. Mr John Thornton, owns the mill and comes across as being cold, hard and cruel to Margaret. He falls in love with her but she rejects him, disliking the way he treats people, particularly his workers. Over time she eventually falls in love with him and of, course they end up together.
The look of the film is great. Milton is very cold and dark, murky and dirty and the flashbacks of her old, southern life in Helstone look beautiful and dreamlike. Living in Milton at that time does not look a pleasant place to live and after the workers go on strike, death and dispair fills the place.

I have to mention Mrs Thornton and Fanny Thornton. At first I must admit i hated Mrs Thornton. She made John a bit of a mummys boy, but throughout the story we learn of their past hardships and the fact that a mothers love is very strong, that she would do anything for her son. By the end of the story I really like d Mrs Thornton, although I do wonder, at the end what happens when Margaret arrives back in Milton with John-what would her reaction be like!

Fanny Thornton (Johns sister) is hilarious in this film. She is a very selfish girl but adds so much comedy to the show that I just cant help liking her!
Overall, this has to be one of my favourite costume dramas. The two leads are really good, (not to mention good looking!)and you really feel for all the characters.
Why was the ending changed from the book? I dont know why-its certainly more romantic and to be honest I prefer the screen ending. There is definatley some symbolism in it, in that north and south meet in the middle at the train station but who cares! We just want to see Margaret and John finally together and the lovely ending that captures that is great!

Thanks for the lovely pics by

Here are some of my thoughts on BBCs Jane Eyre:
I must admit when I first started watching this series I was a little dissapointed with the first episode. They had left out loads about Janes upbringing and time at Lowood school so was a bit unsure about the whole thing. I must admit I was also dubious about Toby Stephens playing Mr Rochester-surely he was too handsome and young for the role? BUT I decieded to give the next episode the benefit of the doubt, purely because a) the book is one of my favourites and b) you cant beat a good bbc costume drama!
I watched episode 2 and my faith was restored! Toby Stephens was very believeable as his character as was Blanche Ingram and her Mother. I couldn't help but sympathise for Ruth Wilson in this episode, she really made Jane her own and was really likable.
Episode 3 I nearly cried!
It was so sad when Jane returned from the church, changing out of her wedding clothes-it was heartbreaking and I did feel for Rochester too which i dont usually-after all, he knew he had a wife and yet he put Jane through all that-I know, Im not very sympathetic!!
At the start of Episode 4 I was really dissapointed-what had happened to the scenes with Rochester begging Jane to stay and her fainting in his arms? But was relieved when they showed flashbacks. Again, I really sympathised with Jane-Ruth Wilson made the character seem so much mure real and when she finally came back to Rochester-such joy!!! My favourite bit had to be when Jane tells Rochester about St John and how handsome he is-it was hilarious!
Over all I really did love this version of Jane Eyre. The two leads were excellent and had really good chemistry.I cant wait for it to come on dvd in next year!
ps- the lovely Jane Eyre pics are from
